Spiderman NFT - Disruptive Marketing 0r Not??

Now, I'm going to say a dirty word…here goes… NFT. And then one more time for the marketers in the back.. NFT. When we hear the acronym NFT, most of us cringe and pretend that we didn't hear it.

We hope it's a fashion fad that will go away along with other words like cryptocurrency, dogecoin, and… Elon Musk. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, this might be you. The thing is you are not alone. We all have this tendency to want to wait and see. While the early adopters snap up all gold crypto coins - and only then, we come strolling in to pick up the leftover pennies. All the while the brands that come to us for innovative marketing strategies suffer because we still think that posting on Facebook and Instagram is disruptive marketing.

NFT or non-fungible token is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a digital ledger… in layman's terms, it's a digital asset that can not be duplicated and can also function as an effective marketing tool. If you happen to be one of those people in this category of non-believers, I have some good news and I have some bad news. The bad news is it's not a fad and it's here to stay. The good news is that it's still early enough that you haven't missed the train just yet.

AMC and Sony tried something "crypto". They offered up NFT for the presale of the new Spiderman movie No Way Home and generated the second-highest one-day sale in AMC's history. Just to put things in perspective, AMC is over 100 years old.

In today's crowded marketing space Instagram and Facebook are _____ fill in the blank.

We owe it to the brands we service to be at the cutting edge of marketing, pushing the envelope, seeking ways to launch their brands and products to the moon.
